PREMISES TRUSTEES

FIT FOR PURPOSE

RODNEY HUGGINS MBE

CHAIR OF TRUSTEES

The Rotary Support Centre in Alcester is the most valuable asset of Rotary Great Britain and Ireland. It is freehold and unencumbered.

It was acquired in December 1985 after a decision at the Annual Business Meeting. Since then, a series of Trustees have arranged for extensive modernisation of the old Rural District Council offices on behalf of Rotary GB&I.

The building was unoccupied during the COVID-19 lockdown from March 2020 to September 2021. Since then, the staff team of 19 have operated a hybrid working model, with both office-based and remote working available. Rotary training in-house is now limited, and smaller meetings are taking place.

The Council Chamber has remained unused. In view of the changes at the centre in the operations of Rotary GB&I, at the 2023 Annual Business Meeting it was decided that the Trustees should investigate as to whether the premises are optimal for future needs or if there is a suitable alternative and were given authority to take appropriate actions.

The Trustees have commenced their investigations, and a report will be given to the 2024 Annual Business Meeting as to the outcome.
